We dreamed of a White Christmas and got it!

After waiting for even a glimpse of snow to no avail, we happily spent a long Christmas weekend in Bear Lake where the two best things awaited us: family and snow! Uncle Spence came from Washington D.C.; Uncle Matt, Aunt Julia and Pete from Ohio.

Naturally, gingerbread house making played a serious role in our gathering! Everyone decorated and sprinkled inventive homes of ginger, then left them outside to chill. Not moose nor squirrel tampered with the clever creations.

Once the fog cleared Christmas Eve morning, the kids rushed outside to play. Taken aback by the powdery snow - it felt like sugar - disappointment momentarily descended when we realized snowman-making was impossible. However, the excitement of sledding and whittling snow replaced it.

Baby Pete grew the most since our last visit! We love his mohawk and ready smile! Maddie loved holding him and Sage loved playing with him.

Sledding down the driveway was a favorite!

On the way back, we stopped at The Sinks for tubing! Pretty hesitant at first because of the long hike back uphill, we tubed a few times. Sage fell off while tubing with Papa and slid on her face, but got up and tried again.

Looks like fun! I missed having a white Christmas. Somehow it doesn't seem like Christmas when it's 60 degrees outside. (I don't miss the cold weather most of the time though.)
