During Ike's soccer camp, the boys scrimmaged during a game, about five little guys fighting over the ball. He stood back and watched these aggressive kids wildly kicking and stated out loud to no one in particular: "It's a great day to wear shin guards!" His coach laughed and repeated, "yeah, a great day for shin guards!"
Marvin and I took Ike on a 6:30 AM bike ride. He's such a good sport and jumps at the chance to ride, even though we interrupted his sleep. We rode in a secluded neighborhood with lots of walking paths by a little stream. He observed, "I like the sounds of morning." We definitely heard lots of birds.
And speaking of birds, the other day as I drove home with the kids, we spotted a mother duck and seven ducklings in a pond by our neighborhood. Maddie jumped out to snap a few pictures, and Ike joined, watching them swim around. Then the ducks got out and crossed the road. We watched as the ducklings followed in a line. Dallin kept saying (in a high pitch, girly voice), "They're so cute!" and "Awww, cute!"
