Easter weekend - Carl Bloch

BYU Museum of Art: saw the phenomenal Carl Bloch exhibit. Five large (some as big as 84x84 feet) murals from Europe were brought over, along with other smaller works. We saw in person several images that appear in our temples and churches worldwide. We were incredibly moved by his work. Bloch's images, especially the larger ones, almost appear three dimensional, and the kids really took it in. Dallin would look with me and say "who's that?" We talked much about the stories behind the paintings. He liked the painting of Jairus and mother, which is quite a touching image because the mother is learning over her dead daughter and Christ is the in background, just barely arrived. Imagine this at its actual size of around 12 feet long.

Maddie liked this one, I presume because of the details. Attention to detail is one of her strong points.

My favorite, and Isaac's and another of Maddie's:

I could smell the landscapes and feel the breeze:

waiting for the exhibit to begin, Ike and Grandpa play phone games

Dallin with the popcorn art

Another fun exhibit - this 30 x 30 stack of books! It looks one dimensional here, but it's actually a cube.

We saw the "Y" lit up the night before, which only happens for Homecoming and Graduations.
