This past weekend we enjoyed the perfect R & R at the Beaufort's cabin. What made this trip especially great was the perfect weather, quiet lake, and great skills the kids learned. We borrowed a u-shaped ski for the kids to try and after a few attempts (and the adults figuring out how to best help) Maddie, Sage, and Isaac all got up!! I'll spare you a video of each . . . it pretty much looks the same . . . our best strategy was for Marvin to help them start at the beach and to ski a little loop.
Water skiing experiences:
Sage attempted first of the kids to ski! she sat back too much so swallowed tons of water. the next time she tried, she cried the whole time. but after that begged to go again and again. the first words out of her mouth the next morning "I want to go water skiing again, right now!" Although our camera shots don't portray it, Sage made sure to really smile beautifully the whole time skiing!
Maddie: the next to attempt. First time she got up, she stayed slouched over, but every time after that seemed really confident and started on her own. she wanted uncle rich to drive faster each time and bravely attempted some "bumpies" or choppy water and also tried turning slightly side to side. Maddie wanted to go again and again.
Isaac: wouldn't try until he saw Sage and Maddie both successful. He got up his first try, but kept his arms in an upright row position the whole time and said "stop please, stop please" the whole loop. He did go a second time, but was even more hunched over and tired out.
Dallin: sad when I wanted to use "his" camera to get video.
All: extremely happy and excited with their achievement of getting up and trying new, hard things!
